Turkey Baskets

Trotting down the Turkey Trail,
Cluckity, Gobbling...Thanksgivings on its way.

Hello All -
It's time again for the annual Thanksgiving Turkey Basket Drive for local families in need.  As always I&TS will donate 4 baskets.  An envelope for money donations to purchase 4 laundry baskets, 4 Turkeys, and other items as necessary, will be circulating soon.  A sign up sheet to bring in donations will be located in the staff lounge.  Each basket will include the following:

• A small frozen turkey or ham
• Instant dressing mix
• Canned vegetables
• Bag of potatoes
• Cranberry sauce
• A foil turkey pan
• Dessert (no frozen items please)

Other items they added this year:

• Onion, Olives, Celery, Foil Paper, Plastic Wrap, Bread, Colored Paper Napkins, Paper Towels, Hot Cocoa Mix, Apple Cider, Instant Coffee, Breakfast Items like Cinnamon Rolls, Bagels, etc. (not frozen).

Each year the I&TS staff donates food and money to support the School of Nursing's Delta Iota Chi Thanksgiving turkey basket drive. Here are some interesting facts about this annual event: 

 

- This is the 17th annual Turkey Basket drive

- Turkey baskets started out to assist the FHS WIC program in 1998

- In 2003 the Turkey Basket drive was transferred to Delta Iota Chi

- Last year PLU supplied over 170 families with a Thanksgiving dinner

- Many of the families we serve are single mothers with small children
