This past weekend I weathered the winds, the snow and pushy shoppers, to buy toys for Winterfest. Thanks to you, I was able to take the remaining donations from the Thanksgiving Turkey Baskets and purchase the following gifts for children in the Parkland/Spanaway Area. If you want a closer view they are now located in our Winterfest box at the front entrance of the library.
The Winterfest event will take place at Mount Rainier Lutheran High School on Saturday, December 13th from 9am-1pm. In it’s 24th year, Winterfest
will serve local families by offering a place to share a hot breakfast
and a children’s fair with games, face painting, a visit with Santa, and
crafts. Parents will have the opportunity to shop for holiday gifts for
their children, connect with local resources, and access coats, socks,
and personal hygiene items. Winterfest is a true
collaborative event that relies on individuals such as yourselves. In 2013, 37 organizations
and 240 volunteers worked together for Winterfest to serve over 1,100 children!
