A Facilitated Conversation on Engaging Student Workers

January Lunch and Learn in February: UPDATED

Please join us for pizza and stimulating conversation on:

Monday, February 6th at 12pm - 1pm in LIC-B

As part of our on going series of lunch time presentations, Amy Stewart-Mailhoit and I would like do a test run of a presentation for the Educause Regional Conference in Portland Oregon, Feb 22 - 23.

IT departments have a long history of hiring students. The department, institution, students, and users benefit most from this practice when student employees are woven into the fabric of the IT community as full participants with job descriptions, performance reviews, training and professional development, and a clear path for growth and promotion. What are the key issues in training and keeping student employees? What can we do to make sure they succeed at what we ask them to do? Bring your best practices and lessons learned to this lively session.

Our discussion on Monday February 8th will help to inform our discussion for Educause, and perhaps help us identify some of our own key issues. We would like to have as many students participate in this discussion as we can, so please encourage your student workers to attend.

Thanks,
Nick
