Lunch & Learn: Tuesday, April 29 11:30am

Lunching! Learning! Laughing?

For tomorrow's Lunch & Learn, we're going to watch the 1995 medical disaster film "Outbreak" which stars a white-headed capuchin monkey who learns to play the 1976 Atari game "Breakout," built by Steves Wozniak and Jobs. The film will be followed by a discussion of other possible combinations of the words "out" and "break." It will be a short discussion.

Just kidding! Dr. Matt Freeman, the esteemed Director of the PLU Health Center is going to be speaking. The topic is outbreaks, not the film Outbreak or the game Breakout. Here's how Matt describes his presentation:

"From the CDC core curriculum in epidemiology. Two cases of microbial disease outbreaks. What are the questions that epidemiologists need to ask in the event of a microbial disease epidemic? What lessons can be learned? How do individual providers contribute (or undermine) efforts to study diseases. The two famous cases are a Salmonella outbreak in Florida and a Legionella outbreak in Philadelphia."

So please join your colleagues and special guest Matt Freeman in LIC-B on Tuesday, April 29, at 11:30am for pizza and disease.
