Upcoming lecture: Dr. Heidi Beebe - "Health related knowledge in a rural Maasai village:  What is learned, who is sharing it?"

Special Lecture - Department of Psychology Colloquium Series

Dr. Heidi Beebe
"Health related knowledge in a rural Maasai village:  What is learned, who is sharing it?"
November 8, 2013
2:00 p.m. - Xavier Hall, Room 201

Increased availability of formal education in rural developing communities creates differential health knowledge, which may introduce knowledge disparities between younger and older community members.  Dr. Beebe will discuss how a new secondary school in a rural Maasai community in East Africa may impact health knowledge of adolescents.  In turn, these adolescents are sharing their knowledge with other children in their homes and communities.
