Friends gathered for a brief ceremony today in Tech Services to mourn (actually celebrate) the end of the Ariel Era in Interlibrary Loan. Sue Golden did the honors of unplugging the Ariel scanner while colleagues from Library Services & User Services looked on. Donuts, pretzels & sparkling cider added to the festivities.
When Ariel joined the PLU ILL team in 1997 it was the first & best way to send articles electronically. Times have changed and the recent upgrade to ILLiad 8 means that Sue and her assistants can now rely on ILLiad's Odyssey system and direct email to fill requests.
